As per 1991 census, there were 69,481 occupied Residential Houses accommodating 74,523 Households showing a shortage of 5,042 housing units as against 48,982 occupied Residential House, 54,608 Households and a shortage of 5,626 housing units in 1981. Presently, an obvious shortage of about 6,000 housing units have been assessed excluding replacement of old and decapitated houses. The residential land available in the town has not been properly utilized due to inadequacy of minimum infrastructures like ; road, water supply, drainage, sewerage, electricity, open spaces etc. The shortage can be met-out from the Private Builders/Real Estate Developers as well as Corporate Sectors.
